JFA Re-Mastered

Nickelback – Dark Horse

Album:

Originally a DR4 & DR5 set of tracks – now “re-mastered” to a DR11-level – with my usual de-clipping treatment as well as dynamics changes and minor EQ alterations.

Audio Evaluations:

Something In Your Mouth

Note: Reduce volume on retail by approximately 6.0db during playback for equal loudness comparison

This album has been redone with the aim of bringing the presence of the music back in to focus and giving the overall album more life.

May I ask what you did to this? I’ve been attempting declipping a large part of my music collection using Adobe Audition and I’ve haven’t ever been able to anything this dynamic from such brickwall trash.

very impressive considering the source material.

More than just declipping. THe declipping part also not only regenerates the peak from the fundamental, it also interpolates missing harmonics based on the audio signal to either side of clipped regions. Also the software I use for declipping is hinted at in the waveform screenshot. After that stage though is a combination of atack/sustain modification, multi-band dynamics (with stereo field/mid/side control), loudness maximiser/limiter, & EQ in summary.

Do you think it’s okay that music was sold trashed and must be repaired by customer?
