Here goes

Name: John Shelley

Location: Melbourne, Australia
Status: Married, 3 kids
Occupation: Cook
Interests: Guitar, cooking, computing, Aussie Rules Football.

Statement,
Music has been an important part of my life ever since I was about 7 years old.
I believe the task that we're undertalking is as important as the invention of the 8-track recorder.
It amazes me, that with all the advances in recording technology, the sound of modern music had devolved.

Our fight is very winnable. We will leave a lasting impression on the recording industry.

name: I could tell ya, but I'll hafta kill ya
age: 40
location: Denver, CO, USA
status: Living in sin 14 years; no kids
occupation: lawyer
hobbies: travel, good food, collect Balenciaga bags (no joke... I'm Decophile on The Purse Forum ), love Metallica to bits

Statement: I don't fit the stereotypical profile of the Metallica fan, but there you have it. Pained disappointment over Death Magnetic's production brought me to the Metallica board then here. I'm ill versed in the technical aspects and science behind producing or destroying sound quality. I'm not a sophisticated audiophile and don't have high end stereo equipment. But you don't have to be those things to be dismayed when music you love is sacrificed on the altar of loudness. I want this trend reversed.

name: Dylan
age: 37
location: Shepparton, Australia
status: Married, child on the way!
occupation: Librarian
hobbies: Music, Guitar, books, Model kits, general home improvement...

Statement: I love many kinds of music, got clued in to the loudness war about a year ago on the Def Leppard forum (yeah, I know, not very metal). I have more IT skills than audio skills, but I have ears and I hate what's happening in this respect. The technology is improving vastly, but the audio quality gets worse as a result? That's insane.

Name: Big....err....Dave
Age: 25
Location: Kerry, Ireland
Status: Scratching my ba....oh...err...single
Occupation: Bum (otherwise known as a student)
Hobbies: Music, PC's, Chillin'

Statement: I've been a proper Metallica fan since I was 13. Of course, I knew of them before then, but my tastes in music hadn't quite evolved enough to give a damn. For me, Metallica's production has always been one of the reasons I had respected them, with Bob Rock being a hero of mine going way back then, since really listening to The Black Album on CD (not the shitty, distorted, tape duplicate, that I first got my hands on). The new record still has me gobsmacked. I'm here to help, because if this loudness trend continues, music will be ruined completely, more likely sooner than later.

Greetings, everyone!

Age: 26
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Status: Living with partner
Occupation: Telecommunications
Hobbies: Music, IT, Audio Production, Mountaineering, Travelling

Hey, I'm Ryan. I really dunno what to say about me apart from I love my music, it is a sacred thing to me, and has saved me more times than I can count on both my hands. I climb mountains when I can afford to, and can get time off work. I have a pretty un interesting job, sit and pretend to agree with what the company I work for pays me to agree with...

I live on the far north/west outskirts of Melbourne, I drive past cows and sheep every day on the way home from work, so I'm far out enough to be able to get away with wearing flanalette and get away with it. 8-)

Interesting story about me - I was told to go home from work today after I have been suffering a massive chest infection, havent been able to breathe properly, torn muscles from coughing so much, etc. Instead of resting it off, I have been spreading the good word, calling random people to see if they would give us exposure, and in a nutshell, spreading awareness. Now... that is dedication!!! lol

Nice to be a part of what's going on!!

Hey I'm Lukas

I'm not here for death magnetic only. But I'm very happy, that with DM so many people realized the problem of the Loudness War. I heard too many Albums, wich i liked, but couldn't listen to . (Foo fighters, Oasis, Muse, Killers).

Interests: Music, music, music. That's about it. I love collecting it and I love hearing it.
Death Magnetic is the last straw. I've now stopped buying new releases and am actually re-buying old CDs I got rid of when remasters came out. And I love them. I love the fact you can turn them up and hear ALL the instrumentation. I just hate the way music is being destroyed and how, as an artform, it is gradually being totally eroded.
Good to be amongst other folk who care about sound. Hope to make some new friends here.

About me: I am a musician, been playing guitar for 8 years. I also record, mix and master. So naturally this whole DM furiates me and I'm really happy to see something like this being put together. After hearing about all this I made a point to go back and remaster my stuff at a quieter and more dynamic level. This is good stuff.

Name: Przemek
Location: Poland
Age: 24
Ocupation: IT student, looking for a job to upgrade my computer ;)
Interests: music, cinema, computers and computer games, paranormal activities (UFO's and stuff), conspiracies (9/11 was an inside job, etc.)

I knew something was wrong with the way the albums sound quite a long time ago, but never understood why and didn't always hear it. I think it was Iron Maiden's "Dance of Death" that got me really wondering - why the hell does this sound so bad? Then I found other fans complaining and linking to articles about the loudness war. When I started reading more and more about it, I finaly began to understand why different albums have different loudness, why the drums sound so weak, why do I hear clicks and pops sometimes, etc.

I am very happy it's finally been widely noticed. I love such initiatives like TurnMeUp or JFA and I am happy to be able to participate on these forums :) I am not an audiophile, but I was always fascinated with audio and I just want to listen good sounding music. I'd say 90% of recent rock and metal releases are very hard to listen to, so I started searching for new music, only to find it's often limited to hell too.
