Guitar Hero: Can it help us again?

Postby thoughtspart3 » Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:37 pm

When Death Magnetic made us all tone deaf there was another option. Guitar Hero stems.

So, the question is, why has this not been a source for other stems? Can other songs / albums be resuscitated the same way?

I think this would be an option for several Oasis songs. Someone has done a remix from the unmastered Guitar Hero stems of Some Might Say with good results (I recommend watching it in 1080p for the best sound quality):

Oddly enough, Some Might Say is one of the few Oasis tracks officially available in different masterings. The CD single version has good dynamic range (DR11) whereas the album version (using the same mix) has a DR of 4.

Of their more recent releases, I think the GH multitracks of the whole Dig Out Your Soul album are in circulation, hence videos like this more dynamic version of The Turning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR2ZKob9 ... re=related

Yes, that is what I am talking about. Why is this not done more? Is it because whole albums are usually not on GH? It would be good to have a few songs mastered properly but it still wouldn't be the whole thing. I don't own it so I don't know how much music is available for particular bands.

Guitar Hero: help us again? Guitar hero is currently a dead horse thanks to the constant flogging of releases from Activision who finally pulled the plug on it early this year. Keep an eye out for Rockband releases though.
