Strange case

Postby marmistrz » Thu Nov 03, 2011 1:29 pm

Hi
I found an album from 1992 which's very strange. One channel is overcompressed, and the over normal. I've got only mp3 source but it's strange. Screenshots in attachment
Is there any way of `repairing` the dynamic range of it?

Wouldn't be the best, since it appears that either a maximizer was applied to a single channel, or - the track source was panned to the left and then a maximizer applied etc.

Only effective thing to do is to attenuate the left channel's volume and apply some of the dynamic-range treatments as usual and mix this back in with the right channel to produce your stereo mix, or do a simple pan to the right to balance the average volumes of the channels at least.
